DTF printing in Melbourne
DTF (direct to film) is what we specialise in. Full colour, photographic detail, no screen setup fees, and it sits on cotton, polyester and blends alike — which is why a ten-shirt run with a complicated logo costs what it does. Prints up to roughly A3, on garments you choose.

What DTF does that other methods can’t
Unlimited colours, one price
Screen printing charges per colour, so a four-colour logo costs four setups. DTF prints the whole artwork in one pass — a photograph costs the same as a single-colour logo.
Fine detail holds
Thin text, gradients, drop shadows and small logos survive at print size. Vinyl cannot cut those shapes and screen printing struggles with the gradients.
Works across fabrics
Cotton, polyester, blends, hi-vis, canvas totes and caps — the same transfer method, so you can run a mixed order of tees, polos and hoodies together.
Small runs make sense
No screens to burn means ten garments is viable. Test a design at ten, reorder at a hundred when it lands.
Print sizes and placements

- Left chest — roughly 8–10 cm wide. The standard for uniforms and polos.
- Front centre — commonly A4 or a little larger, the size most merch and club shirts use.
- Full back — up to about A3, which is where business names and event artwork go.
- Sleeves, nape, hip — small prints that make a shirt look considered rather than plain.
Not sure what size your artwork should be? Send it through and we will show you on the mockup before anything prints.
How the colour actually comes out

DTF lays down a white underbase, so colours stay bright on black and navy instead of going muddy the way direct-to-garment can. Edges stay sharp, and the hand feel is a thin flexible layer rather than a thick plastic patch. Washed inside out on a normal cycle, prints hold up through years of wear; bleach and very high heat are what shorten any print’s life.
Mixed garments, one order

Because the transfer is the same across fabrics, a single design can run across tees for the crew, polos for the front counter and hoodies for winter, in mixed sizes, and all of it counts toward your ten.
DTF printing FAQs
What is DTF printing?
Direct to film: your artwork is printed onto a transfer film with a white underbase, then heat pressed onto the garment. It gives full-colour results on dark fabrics without screens.
How big can a DTF print be?
Up to roughly A3, which covers a full back print. Most chest prints sit around A4 or smaller.
Is there a setup fee?
No. The price is per garment for the run — colours in the artwork do not change it.
Will it crack or peel?
Not if it is pressed properly and washed sensibly — inside out, normal cycle, no bleach, no hot tumble dry. Poor pressing is what causes peeling, which is why we test our runs.
Can you print DTF transfers for me to press myself?
Ask us. Supplying transfers only is possible for trade buyers — tell us the sizes and quantities and we will quote it.
What file should I send?
A PNG with a transparent background at 300 dpi at print size is ideal, or a vector file (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG). Send what you have and we will tell you if it needs work.
