Inside Our Print Room

How we work

Inside our print room

Most printing goes wrong before a machine is switched on — a logo supplied at the wrong size, a garment that will not take the print, a deadline nobody said out loud. Here is exactly how we handle a bulk order, so you know what you are buying before you commit.

Every order runs the same four steps

1. You send the job

Garment, quantity, where the print goes, and your artwork. If you have not got print-ready artwork, send whatever you have — a photo of an old shirt is enough to start with.

2. We check the artwork by eye

A person opens your file and looks at it: resolution, colours, how it will sit on the garment, whether fine text will hold at that size. If something will not print well, you hear about it before you pay, not after.

3. Free digital mockup, then your approval

You get your price and a mockup showing the print on the actual garment colour, usually within 24 hours. Nothing goes on a shirt until you say yes.

4. Print, check and deliver

We print, check the run, and deliver across Melbourne or arrange collection. Your artwork, placement and sizes stay on file so a reorder in six months matches the first run.

What we print, and how

DTF (direct to film) is our main method. It prints full colour with no screen setup fees, holds fine detail and photographic artwork, and works on cotton, poly and blends — which is why a ten-shirt run is affordable at all. Vinyl suits single-colour text, names and numbers. Screen printing is the better economics on large single-colour runs, and we will tell you when your job is one of those. More on our main method: DTF printing Melbourne.

Garments in three tiers

  • Everyday — the budget option for fundraisers, one-off events and giveaways.
  • Signature — the middle tier most businesses and clubs land on: heavier cotton, better fit, survives regular washing.
  • Premium — heavyweight garments for uniforms worn several shifts a week, or merch you intend to sell.

We are not tied to one supplier, so the garment gets chosen to suit the job. Brands are named on request when you are quoting.

What we promise

No print without your approval

You see a mockup on the right garment colour first. If the printed run does not match the mockup we approved, we fix it.

An honest answer on deadlines

Most bulk orders run one to two weeks from artwork approval. If your date is not realistic we say so up front rather than taking the order and hoping.

Repeat orders that match

Artwork, placement and garment details stay on file, so shirt one hundred looks like shirt one.

Quotes that hold

The number we quote is the number you pay for that run. No setup fees hidden behind the headline price.

Who we are

Chameleon Prints is a small, family-run garment printer based in Melbourne’s western suburbs. We are delivery-based rather than a shopfront, which keeps rent out of your quote, and we print in bulk — ten garments per design is the minimum. If you want two shirts or a single novelty print, we are not the right printer for you, and we will say so rather than waste your time.

Three reasons buyers come back

The price drops as the run grows

Ten is the entry point, but the per-shirt price steps down at 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500. If you are close to a break, we will tell you rather than quietly quote the higher tier.

Free delivery on 50 or more

Orders of fifty garments and up deliver free across Melbourne metro. Below that, delivery is quoted per job or you can collect.

One contact, start to finish

You deal with the person doing the job, not a queue. Questions about sizing, artwork or timing get answered the same day during business hours.

Common questions

Why is the minimum ten garments?

Setting up a run takes the same handling whether it is two shirts or fifty. Ten is the point where the price per shirt is fair to both of us.

Can you match my brand colours exactly?

We match as closely as the garment and ink allow and show you a mockup first. Print on fabric will never be a perfect screen match, and anyone promising otherwise is guessing.

Do you print on garments I supply?

Sometimes. Send the details and we will tell you whether it takes DTF cleanly before you commit. Some fabrics and finishes will not hold a print.

What if the artwork is low resolution?

We will tell you before printing and either fix it or quote design help. We would rather have that conversation early than hand over a blurry print.

Where do you deliver?

Across Melbourne, with collection by arrangement. Interstate delivery can be quoted per job.
